Abstract

This is a proposal for the continuation of the project described in SNIC 001/12-138. It is an Earth System Modeling project (Comprehensive Climate Model) including several individual models describing the atmosphere, ocean, land surface, vegetation, carbon cycle etc. The storage capacity needed for a single 150 year simulation is in the order of 20 TB. Including for example the chemistry, the output data is in the range 8 GB/month. In the run-up to the IPCC Assessment Report 6 MERGE contributes to the CMIP6 project with several simulations summarized under the MIPs C4MIP and LUMIP. To be able to compare simulations with different setups several datasets are needed at the same time. The demand for this is approximately 80 GB.
