Abstract

The purpose is to study new types of cross-sections for building wind turbine towers with the recently available technologies. Higher wind turbines need to be built in order to reach stronger winds. However, current approach does not allow larger sections to be carried on public roads and on-site erection brings large costs to the project. An attempt to separate the section in bent plates will be made. The study will evaluate the behaviour of this cross-sections. Buckling, static and dynamic analysis will be made. The last step is to compare the behaviour of this section and the typical tubular cross-section.
