PiCrust analysis of 454 pyrosequencing data
Two independent studies of gut microbiome were carried out using 454 pyrosequencing at Lund University. We would like to further analyze the data with new methods. Study 1: Fecal microbiota in volunteers with hypertension was studied in a double blind, randomised placebo controlled trial with probiotics and fermented bilberries (Trial registration: ClinicalTrials.gov: NCT01989702.). We observed that the gut microbiota was generally stable over the intervention period of three months. We would like to further analyze the 454 pyrosequencing data with PiCRUSt and subsequent metagenome analyzing methods to see if there is any difference in functional level by looking at KEGG pathways. Study 2: Ileal pouch microbiota of fourteen patients with ulcerative colitis were studied by 454 pyrosequencing. We would like to see if there are any genes could be linked to the predisposition of pouch mucous inflammation.
