Modelling of Paperboard using Solid-Shell Finite Elements
In large-scale forming simulations of paperboard, structural finite elements are required to reduce the computational cost. Due to the large number of contacts in such simulations, explicit finite element solvers are frequently employed. In this project a state of the art constitutive model for paperboard is combined with an explicit solid-shell element. The element is derived without imposing any restrictions on the constitutive model i.e. no enforcement of plane stress conditions.
