Abstract

The main objective of this project is to analyse the present upright at the front suspension and to propose an improved version of the upright with regards to mass, reliability and manufacturing cost, amongst other factors. In order to achieve this, the loads acting on the upright have to be calculated from the multibody system from several different relevant drive cases, which also have to be determined. With the loads acting on the upright known, a finite element model can be established and simulated, firstly of the present upright, whereafter it can be optimized through the software. The multibody model will be built and analysed in Adams/Car, whilst the finite element model will be created from existing CAD-files in Solidworks and the simulations will be carried out in Ansys Mechanical. The structural optimization will also be performed in Ansys
