Abstract

Ships and marine floating structures are subject to complex environmental lodas. The interaction between ship and water causes ship motions and is one of the main interests of seakeeping research. The dynamic wave loads on ships result in resonance and vibrations in the ship hull structure, which affects the ship safety as well as local structural strength. The fluid-structure interaction (FSI) is also of our interests for it determines the integrity of structural details. The analyses of sophisticated mathematical models of waves, comprehensive structural details as well as complicated material properties all require high-end numerical simulations. The computation capacities are now the bottom-neck of the research activities within the research group of marine structures.
