Abstract

In this project an attempt will be made to adapt the Code-Aster open-source FE code to full production level. Use of the MPI equation solver MUMPS will be investigated (optimal nodes / CPU balancing) for non-linear FE problems. Also the GPU potential of Code-Aster through the use of the PETSc package will be assessed. All these HW/SW strateigies will be used in the context of non-linear FE shell calculations: the research question is the transition of failure mode of a polygonal cross-section member from face plate buckling to cylindrical buckling, as the number of apexes of the polygon increases.
