This project concerns Fluid-Structure Interaction (FSI) for submersible vessels. The work will treat the response of structures imposed by transients in the fluid primarily induced by underwater explosions. Of specific interest is the response of structures mounted on the pressure hull, e.g. Structures of similar characteristic length as the pressure hull, hull-mounted equipment placed under the casing, equipment and objects placed in a water-filled cavity such as forward tubes.
The work will include method application and development of specific methodology as well. Both fluid and structure will be addressed.
