Abstract

During this project we aim to reconstruct 500 chloroplast genomes of artic plants. the aim is to use this data to generate a phylogeny that is to be used for analyses of changes in phylogenetic community structure within the longterm arctic warming plots of the International tundra experiment (http://ibis.geog.ubc.ca/itex/). The idea is that phylogenetic distance can be used as a proxy for functional similaty between species pairs, and can thus give insight in the effects of long term climate change in the arctic.
