Abstract

The aim of this project is to achieve fundamental understanding of conformational dynamics of proteins and protein assemblies, particularly in the microtubules. We will track the large-scale breathing motions in various systems by performing large-scale molecular dynamics simulations. Special accent will be placed on simulating interactions of microtubules with external oscillating electric field because such interactions were observed experimentally, yet, field-induced molecular rearrangements are not understood. Ultimately, obtained atomistic models will be utilised in processing experimental data, primarily from X-ray scattering (SAXS) and dielectric spectroscopy measurements.
