Abstract

Forest fires produce vast amounts of heat energy and produce their own local weather, caused by the temperature difference to the environment and the rapid up-winds above the fire. We plan to utilize the fire-atmosphere coupled model WRF-SFIRE (Mandel et al., 2011, 2014) and adjust it to Swedish conditions. With the aid of the WRF-CHEM model also the smoke plume can be simulated. We propose to use the 2-way coupled dispersion model WRF-Chem. As an outcome, I expect an increased understanding of what are the essential, and negligible, components in the modelling effort, which will aid further studies to be performed efficiently.
