Abstract

The goal of this project is to investigate the feasibility to simiulate different loadbalancing strategies for datacenters. We will develop ns2 simulation models that simulate different loadbalancing strategies running packet level simulations. By optimising the loadbalancing strategy, we intend to minimize the flow completion time. Such packet level simulation however requires long time due tio the high bandwith and large number of flows to simulate. In addition, many parameters need to be tuned and evaluated which requires many simulations to run. Each simulation runs several hours to days. Having access to compute resources allows us to run such simulations in parallel on a massive scale so that we can get solutions much faster. We will develop several loadbalancing strategies. We will run also different scenarios and traffic traces.
