Abstract

A recent study in zebrafish Danio rerio showed that changes in the social environment, specifically the intensity of sperm competition, translate into differences in hatching timing and larval survival. My project aims to assess where in the sperm the trigger for this mechanism lies and how it is transferred into the offspring. I will investigate the role of sperm in parental effects and identify potential mechanisms causing paternal effects (i.e. sperm-mediated epigenetic mechanisms). Currently, I am staring to analyse transcriptome data for the zebrafish sperm. For this I need a project on UPPMAX.
