Abstract

Our research tries to understand if urban and rural great tit populations exhibit consistent genetic differences across 9 different urban/rural population pairs in Europe. For this aim we have used a single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) chip constructed from a high-quality great tit genome assembly with 544 610 SNP markers spaced evenly along the species genome. We successfully genotyped 180 individuals (10 urban/10 rural individuals per population pair). We will analyse the data using the program BayEnv 2 using environmental correlations to identify loci underlying local adaptation to urban environments.
