Abstract

The Soft X-ray Laser (SXL) is an advanced beamline proposed to be driven by the linac at the MAX IV laboratory. The baseline goal of the SXL beamline is to generate intense and short (sub-ps) pulses in the range 1-5 nm (1-0.2 keV). The project will start the conceptual design phase at the beginning of 2018 and it will last two years. During this time we foresee the need of extensive simulations to design the layout of the undulator chain (and their intra-section) as well as to study the tolerances of the machine with respect to different accelerator parameters. We want to simulate a baseline concept plus a few different alternative setups that will allow to increase the coherence of the radiation or to shorten the pulse length or generally to get a better quality of the light.
