This proposed project is a part of one Work Package within an EU-Horizon 2020 project entitled “Ageing with C.elegans” and concerns analyses of single nucleotide polymorphisms associated with healthspan in humans.
The study is designed as a nested case-control within a large prospective population-based cohort. Cases are defined by survival to old age without major age-associated diseases. As controls will be used individuals surviving to old age but with one or more chronic diseases and also individuals not surviving to old age.
The project includes data from approx. 8000 persons (about half of them are dead). Data sets include DNA data and age, sex,and classification into categories healthy/unhealthy ageing.
Analysis will be performed by Mikko Kuokkanen, our collaborator in this EU-supported project, from the National Institute for Health and Welfare in Helsinki.
The work involves sensitive personal data.
