Abstract

The aim of this study is to recover the phylogenetic position of an enigmatic group of protists known as "Telonemids". To this date, this phylum is represented by only a few gene sequences, which do not allow to reveal its position within the Eukaryotic Tree of Life (EToL). We sequenced the transcriptomes of several members of Telonemids and plan to add the newly discovered genes to already existing alignments consisting of 260 house-keeping genes from a broad diversity of eukaryotes. A supermatrix of these genes will be used to infer a phylogenetic tree (phylogenomic approach) and to fully resolve the relationship of Telonemids to other eukaryotic crown groups.
