Abstract

Microalgae are used in out-door pilot systems to capture CO2 and nutrients from industrial waste streams. The project investigates how algae and bacteria community composition, seasonal succession and interactions between the organisms affect nutrient recovery and biomass quality (biochemical metabolites). We aim to compare the functional repertoire of both the microalgae (phytoplankton) and bacteria community in order to investigate if community functions differ over time and view the influence of season and/or microalgae on the bacterial functional repertoire.
